Securities

1. Equity:

Equity securities, generally known as shares, comprise ordinary shares and preference shares that are issued by the company to shareholders. Ordinary or common shareholders (i.e. holders of ordinary shares), being owners of the company, have voting rights and receive dividends at the discretion of the company. However, the payment of dividends is not mandatory even if a company records a profit in the year.

2. Unit Trust / Mutual Fund:
Unit trust is a collective investment scheme where resources from individual investors are pooled together and managed by professional fund managers. The resources will be invested across a wide range of equities, bonds, currencies or other money market instruments.
